Glued
Who doesn't like to watch TV drama series? I for one have been forbidding myself from falling into the Korean TV series mania that hit the whole world like a storm. Say a few.... Winter Sonata, Stairway to Heaven, Coffee Prince? Any of these you haven't watched? I confess, I have watched none...
And I was just doing okay turning away from what everyone or anyone was talking about in the last few years. Our office maid is a Korean serie fanatics, she claimed she had watched and kept every single Korean series she could laid her hands on in this country. And feel free to talk to her about any actor or actress, old and new. She knows it all.
But to my surprise, I could never keep my eyes off of the US TV series. Some were exposed to me and got me glued to every minute and second of the storyline. Once I was a big fan of Carrie Bradshaw in "Sex and The City". I had watched and rewatched the episodes a couple of times and started to write my sentence that went like "I can't stop but wonder ......". And then there were a few more provocative ones that entertained me shortly afterwards like "Six Feet Under", "The Ghost Whisperer" and "Lost". These three evently got me annoyed - don't know why, I just saw my interest diminish overtime until I found "Nip Tuck" and "Desperate Housewives".
The latest has become my all time favorite and funny enough I think the production could not catch up with my viewing speed so I ended up facing a lot of void for a certain period of time. And while waiting I got myself busy with replaying the old episodes or ..... opening myself to new options...
I stumbled into "Ugly Betty" a while ago and never really thought of getting into it until a closed friend told me she really liked it. My niece left our family trip this month with a message that I should catch "Glee". Wow, can I commit to that? While eventually came to meet face to face with "Ugly Betty" first episode, I had to admit - despite being a bit dull in the beginning - she grew into an interesting personality and soon enough she was adorable and had to exit Disc 6 of the first season. Oh man!
Do I miss Betty already like I miss all my family members that left after spending our wonderful time together in Thailand? Yes, I kind of do... so just have to catch the second season, shouldn't I ?. Meanwhile I have a few in my list: "The Traveler", "The Mentalist". "Brothers and Sisters" and "Dirty Sexy Money". Which one will drop and which one will sustain? Lets' see!
Do you have any favorite series too? Share your titles with me :-)

I love using coconut milk...I use it in so many dishes. Anytime it says milk in a dessert, I use coconut milk! So these are right up my alley. They look delicious, Kris.
ReplyDeleteAs far as series are concerned, I got hooked on Lost and on True Blood. Mad Men is good too. I don't watch very many, and usually only when someone raves about a show.
I love series like Nip/Tuck, True Blood or Six Feet Under. What exquisite cupcakes!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosa
I am totally hooked on Gray's anatomy, I think I have watched all the episodes. I also watch Private Practice, which is shown here right after Gray's anatomy. I love watching Lie to me, but haven't seen all the episodes. My new favorite is Detroit 187, a brand new show on a police precinct in Detroit. The main character is played by Michael Imperioli, an Italian American actor previously seen in The Sopranos, and I think he is brilliant in this role. I used to watch Desperate Housewives but lost interest when it became really absurd.
ReplyDeleteForgot to thank you for the recipe, I love coconut flavor.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! I love the way you decorated them.

ReplyDeleteHa! I do like watching Asian dramas (Korean and Japanese kinds) - but only a few which are well-written and acted. They are addictive, just like these cupcakes! :)

These look so lovely! The perfect snack to eat when watching your favorite tv show! My favorites are; Sex and the City (of course), La Femme Nikita, The It Crowd & The New Adventures Of The Old Christine.
ReplyDeleteYour photos always make me want to eat! I've been baking with coconut, too, lately. I guess it's perfect for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on TV! As soon as I get sucked into a show, that's it, I'm out of commission. I just started watching Glee, and love it! I got hooked after 1 episode. I also like Grey's Anatomy, House, The Good Wife, Gossip Girl, and Damages.
I have never had the opportunity to try gooseberries. I will surely look for them now. Your photos are stunning as always!
ReplyDeleteWe watch the NCIS series and love "24" when it is on.
Coconut vanilla really sound delicious and exotic! Got to try this exquisite flavor combination you made. Never tried the Cape gooseberries, I am sure they are sweeter than the Ribes gooseberries. I'll see if i can find them here. They look so juicy. So many cupcake recipes nowadays but yours is the best, I must say!
ReplyDeleteYou are right about these TV novelas, you outgrow them very quickly!
Cheers!
I'm a Desperate Housewife and Brothers and Sisters fan too. I'm sure I'd be a big fan of these luscious cupcakes too!
ReplyDeleteYumm your pictures are so beautiful !!
ReplyDeleteThis cupcakes look delicious .. ;)
XoXo
Gorgeous cuppies, Kris! I've been resisting the Korean dramas trend, too. Even my college roommate who rarely did anything but study got so addicted that she'd watch them for hours a day. Perhaps I'll give in once the fad fades 8). As for US shows, I think you watch more than I do! My favorites include a vampire show called True Blood, one about a doctor solving medical mysteries called House, and a fantastic scifi series (that's very relevant to real issues) called Battlestar Galactica. But mostly I watch Japanese animes hehe. I've heard great things about The Mentalist and Glee, though, and have been thinking about getting into them myself.
ReplyDeleteYour cupcakes look wonderful and I can almost taste those flavors playing on my tongue. I love your recipes. My T.V. watching is very limited so I should be embarrassed to publicly admit what I watch when the set is on. I am addicted to NCIS and BBC Mystery. I never miss them. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteKris, these sweet little cakes have captured my heart. I'm bookmarking the recipe!
ReplyDeleteOur family is addicted to two Australia TV series - Packed to the Rafters and Sea Patrol! We watch each series then buy the DVD's to rewatch and rewatch! Crazy, I know!
ReplyDeleteI love your cupcakes but really I adore the gorgeous white cake stand!

- Fringe (Dabbling in the paranormal like X Files)
- CSI Las Vegas (Crime, forensics)
- CSI New York (Crime, forensics)
- Criminal Minds (Crime, FBI)
- Bones (FBI agent & anthropologist who solve murders by the bones of found bodies)
There are more but those are my top favourites :)
STUNNING photos, as always. Now to find gooseberries....
Oh! One more!

ReplyDeleteLove that you added coconut milk :) The gooseberries make such a pretty presentation.
ReplyDeleteI'm so hooked on Desperate Housewives. I also like How I met your mother, Law & Order SVU and Psych (isn't Shawn so cute?)
These cakes look so cheerful, like sunny side up fried eggs!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite US series have been Six Feet Under, Sopranos, Lost. Currently working my way through a re-run of Twin Peaks on the UK Horror Channel (didn't see it the first time) and next we're starting on box set of Mad Men... I definitely love my US shows, they're so much better in the past 10 years than they were when I was growing up.
Kris, I was and still am a HUGE fan of Sex and the City, still watch the eps on DVD occasionally. The past few years, I haven't gottebn hooked on any network television, just cable reality shows like Top Chef, and uhh..hate to admit it, but the Real Housewives of 'fill in blank', all of them!
ReplyDeleteThat said, loving those cupcakes. Only you could make a gooseberry look like candy, my friend :)
I love Korean Dramas. I recommend you watching them. Watch Save The Last Dance for Me. Or if you're looking for a romantic comedy: Boys Over Flowers, You're Beautiful, My Girl.. they're all really great. WAY MORE ADDICTING than American tv shows.
ReplyDeleteKris, I must say I'm more of a suspense and sci-fi fan. So CSI, Fringe, The Mentalist, Criminal Minds are more up my alley. BTW the cupcakes look scrumptious.
