Have you had Malays...Looks delicious and gorgeous! Have you had Malaysian Satay? There's turmeric in the Malaysian version. And instead of the cucumber dip, we have the cucumbers and red onions fresh, and just dip into the peanut sauce. The Malaysian satay also serves with "ketupat" -- rice that has been wrapped in a woven palm leaf pouch and boiled. As the rice cooks, the grains expand to fill the pouch and the rice becomes compressed (Wikipedia).
